Episode 1

This was my fist News story.  During this process I got to wok both sides of the camera, and I loved it.  Julia was a huge help during interviews.  She's great with people and helping them feel more comfortable on camera.  She was also an amazing help when editing, getting the video down to 1:30.  I went to mountain campus a total of 3 times, the first with Julia to interview the students, once to film them once they got on their way, and the third time to film them getting back.  Everyone was extremely nice, and honestly the most difficult part was editing it down, and getting rid of some pretty good footage.

This episode did not go nearly as smoothly as the first.  After 1 interview was locked on a memory card, I had to go back and do a second interview alone.  This was a lot more difficult than I thought.  I ended up forgetting  the mic at home, so we found the quietest place that we could.  This ended up being the greenhouse, which made for good lighting but the echo can still be heard over the music in the background.  The next challenge came with the explanation of sustainability.  Brooke's explanation was well said, but shortening it and piecing it together was very hard to do.  On top of that, getting the B-Roll of the white board to match what was being said took an entire class time.  It turned out OK, but its definitely better to work with someone who can make sure you check al your boxes.

Episode 2

Episode 3

I was a little disappointed with how the episode turned out.  I had kind of thrown it together pretty hastily so it isn't as good as it could have been.

Episode 4

The was by far my favorite episode to shoot. Jesse is very knowledgeable and I always love visiting the farm.  This week I had Fynn Greene helping me.  The sunset behind Jesse in the interview was his work.  Working with someone who out take care of getting a pretty shot let me focus on getting the right information.  This project was a 2 process.  I went up to the farm the first time with my Food Farms and Systems class to get B-Roll of Jesse talking to students and the animals on the farm.  The second visit with Fynn was to capture the half an hour long interview.  Editing was difficult but thanks to Alison and Fynn its down to a manageable size.

Episode 5

This episode was supposed to be shot at the Dene Farm, but due to a scheduling conflict, we ended up in the book closet on the first floor of the seminary building.  It went way better than I expected at this point.  The lighting in the closet is actually pretty good, I didn't even need a hair light.I shot this in about 10 minutes, and I think it worked out pretty well.
