ABOUT ME

Amelia Kennedy is a 17 year old senior at Burr and Burton Academy taking Bill Muench's Cinematography class for the first time. She hopes use the skills learned in class to make films that get people excited about conserving the environment. As a senior, Amelia is planning on applying to schools all across the country and abroad. She hopes to earn a degree in Environmental Engineering and focus on helping farmers improve their yields, soil health, carbon emissions, and lessen their negative impacts on the world around them.

Amelia has also been on the Varsity Track team every year. She's competed in the Division 2 and All State championship meets in Javelin, Discuss, and the 100 and 300 hurdles. She hopes to keep this going for her senior year.

The summer after her freshman year she went on a mission trip to Haiti. Seeing the destruction and environmental impacts from the earthquakes are part of the reason Amelia wants to be an environmental engineer. The video below was shot by Shannon Nutty, a cinematography major from Massachusetts.

For her Junior fall, Amelia joined the Mountain Campus program. This experience helped her figure out what she wants to do with her life, along with giving her some amazing memories. Her favorite part of the semester was the Watershed Expedition. It taught her that theres always something to look forward to, even when you're hiking in the hottest, most humid week of the year.

Amelia also participated in the first French Exchange at BBA, the summer after her Freshman year. She stayed for 3 weeks in the city of Pau in the Bern region of France. While there her and her group stayed with host families and went on trips to places like Biaritz, which was only a 2 hour bus ride away, and stayed in Paris for their last three days.
